Boxing is used as an exercise intervention to support mental health. Training and exercising are great ways to work out your body as well as clear your mind and reduce stress. As humans, we experience some form of stress in our daily life and too much stress can negatively impact our physical and mental health. Boxing will relieve built up tension and aggression in a controlled environment. BOSS Boxing Club has an approach to mental health by incorporating physical training and wrap around support that includes a counselor and mentor. Boxing will reduce stress, depression, and anxiety. As well as improve mood, sleep, and quality of life.
To reduce anxiety boxing exercise teaches us breathing techniques that help calms our mind and allow us to manage it symptoms. Training is a way of meditation that achieves a state of calmness and relaxation. The discipline and focus we develop from boxing can be applied to our everyday life. Boxing leads to an overall improvement of life and mood by releasing endorphins, that is the body natural mood boosters. BOSS Boxing Club programing includes physical training (group/1 on 1), meditation, counseling, mentoring, and more. Physical activity includes stretching, shadow boxing, jump rope, hit heavy bag, speed bag, pad work, and running.
